We delivered a full-cast scored Chapter One, took notes on a lighter main narrator, and are revising toward the multi-voice full-book path.
The story
The book
Damage Inc. The Hit List opens in a cell: Pat Kennedy woken by a sliding door, cellmate Seth, and the weight of an organization that does not stay behind bars. Crime thriller with ensemble dialogue from page one.
The Lex partnership
Brett wanted character voice differentiation and a younger, lighter main narrator after the first Adam pass. He liked the cast voices; the narrator revision (Link register) is the gate to payment and full-book multi-voice production.
How it was made
PROSE multi-voice
Crime dialogue dies if every speaker shares one throat. Chapter One runs multi-voice PROSE: narrator plus character takes, acted lines, and QA on seams between Pat, Seth, and the guards.
Casting and revision
First delivery proved the cast. Author feedback narrowed the narrator: lighter, closer to Link, less doom. Surgical narrator swap rather than re-rendering the whole chapter from scratch.
Score as seasoning
Prison ambience and sparse beds under the cell open. Music drops out for the lines that need the clang of the door and the silence after.
